This is so much more than a chat about Essential Oils.  Talking with Kyle McHargue (that’s Har-G 😉  is always a treat.  Kyle excuses a light and hope and optimism that is infectious. When I first heard his story of overcoming life-long depression with essential oils, and how that catalyzed an entire LIFE transformation that resulted in a new job, new home, (a loss of 70 lbs???!!!) a new state and entirely new way of living I was captivated. Breaking free of depression and illness with Essential Oils

Q. Tell us a little about yourself

I am currently living my dream. Within the last year, I literally flipped my world upside down. Sometimes it still makes me laugh how far I’ve come within a year and cannot wait to see what the next year holds! Within one year  got off my anti-depressants, lost nearly 70 pounds, improved my mood and energy, sold our house and moved from bitter-cold NY to gorgeous southern CA, spent 3 months traveling the country, landed a dream job, and most importantly took back control of my life. This all started with the idea of taking one step, for me. This journey can be traced back to one initial action step; to no longer be dependent on anti-depressant medication. My wife, who is a certified holistic health coach, introduced me to Doterra’s Wild Orange Essential oil.  This oil is fantastic for mood management and often is suggested for people fighting with depression. This single oil allowed me to get my mind and emotions back. Within the first two week I no longer had any reason for my medication. This was my “happy” oil. I realized soon after I was in control of every aspect of my life.  Only then did my journey truly begin.

Q. What is your philosophy on healing or overcoming health challenges.

In less than two years I was able to reinvent myself through countless daily action steps towards self-improvement and fulfillment. I decided it was important to start with one step and then another. Soon what started to happen was intriguing, exciting and maybe even a bit shocking. Once that first spark started within me, everything started catching fire.  The most important step in overcoming any health concern is creating that initial spark within yourself.

Q. How have you used adversity in your life to fuel your commitment to balance and wellness?

Adversity is the universe trying to tell you something. The more you tune it out or refuse to listen, the more adversity will find its way into your life. Once you start listening, everything starts falling into place. Here is an example from my life; my wife and I always wanted to move from NY to CA but was always concerned with having enough money and how we would make it work. It took our basement flooding and an entire night of bailing water for me to finally announce, “I’m ready to move, and I know everything will work out.” Less than a week later, a woman showed up on our doorstep asking if we would consider selling our house. The rest was history. After months of traveling with my wife, I’m sitting here doing what I love. Without, that adversity I never would have taken that monumental leap.

Q. How do you stay healthy, resilient and vibrant?

I find myself staying most healthy when I work on balancing physical activity with nutrition and self-care. Exercise is crucial. But not just an exercise routine, it’s important to keep pushing yourself to new heights. Set goals and blow them out of the water. I love the saying, “I can do anything.” When I’m running and find myself losing steam or wanting to stop I repeat this over and over. I also try to eat as clean as possible (most of the time). Lastly, self-care is a critical step in maintaining a vibrant healthy life. I love essential oils for this. Having a kit of essential oils allows me the ability to treat myself naturally when life’s challenges arise. When I feel myself getting anxious, depressed or having a hard time sleeping I turn to my oils.

Q. What tips do you recommend for your clients dealing with / healing from illness?
Envision the light at the end of the tunnel. This really helps maintain a positive optimistic mindset when you’re road gets really bumpy. I feel like sometimes optimism can be that last little catalyst to ensure health and wellness. And on a deeper biological level, every cell in your body responds to your thoughts and vocabulary. So make it a point to think positively and every cell in your body will follow.

Q. If there was only one thing a person could find the energy and resources to make a priority what would it be?

What makes you most happy? Your priorities should reflect what you love. If you’re putting energy into any facet of your life and it’s not benefiting you and/or improving your quality than it’s not worth it. Start to align yourself with what makes you smile!

Q. What is your favorite inspirational quote for healing?

“There are only two symptoms of enlightenment, just two indications that a transformation is taking place within you toward a higher consciousness.  The first symptom is that you stop worrying. Things don’t bother you anymore. You become light-hearted and full of joy. The second symptom is that you encounter more and more meaningful coincidences in your life, more and more synchronicities. And this accelerates to the point where you actually experience the miraculous.”  -Deepak Chopra
