One of my favorite “jobs” as a steward of Chronic Wellness is introducing you to amazing experts in their field. Kathleen Bloom is one of those experts: she is like a sister, best friend, and intuitive powerhouse all wrapped into one. I’ve been working with Kathleen personally and am honored to have her join us as the first member of our “Resident Wellness Expert Panel.” In this Shift Series interview we delve into questions of activating our inner guidance system and tools for awakening the intuitive spark within. Enjoy!
Lindsay and Kathleen talk about activating our inner guidance system.
Q: Tell us a little about yourself
I follow my intuition completely! Ask my 3 daughters and my husband and they will tell you that I am continuously reminding them to listen, trust and follow their intuition.
Movement and Stillness are my expressions for developing awareness. Years of martial arts training has resulted in my second degree black belt and believe me, that comes with plenty of movement and awareness. Rising early in the morning for my daily meditation practice creates the opportunity for stillness and deep intuitive awareness.
I love to laugh.
Q: What is your philosophy on healing or overcoming health challenges.
Recognizing the body mind spirit connection is essential. When I get an injury from my martial arts training, I look for the life lesson I can learn. During the rehabilitation period I reflect on what my body is teaching me or where my spirit is wanting healing. While working with my rehabilitation practitioner – massage, stretching, acupuncture, etc – I go to each session and concentrate on bringing healing to body and mind as well as spirit. This generally accelerates the healing time.
Q: How have you used adversity in your life to fuel your commitment to balance and wellness?
During a particularly difficult injury that limited my mobility and brought continuous pain, I had to put my time, energy and focus on only the truly meaningful parts of my life. It was especially liberating to simply not care about things that didn’t matter! Balance was not a luxury, it was imperative.
Q: How do you stay healthy, resilient and vibrant?
Walk and laugh – every day!
Q: What tips do you recommend for your clients dealing with / healing from illness?
1. gratitude for the good
2. keep moving
3. sit still
Q: If there was only one thing a person could find the energy and resources to make a priority what would it be?
Q: What is your favorite inspirational quote for healing?
“Laughter is the best medicine.”
